Certains investisseurs souhaitent même faire d'Azaleas une nouvelle "Vegas". Jugé ambitieux par les autorités de l'époque, seul quelques petits casinos de luxe s'installent le long du Strip et une clientèle plutôt aisée commence à venir y passer quelques jours. Jugé farfelu mais trop ambitieux et onéreux, le projet du nouveau Vegas est abandonné et la Ville sombre dans la crise post-communiste.
