L'élection présidentielle de mai 2016 intervient en remplacement du [[Gouvernement Gwench]] élu en novembre 2015. Malgré des débuts difficiles et plusieurs contestations, le mandat se termine dans un apaisement relatif. Toutefois, les tensions demeurent et ne se disent plus en public. Les débats tourneront notamment autour des réformes entreprises durant ce mandat. L'inactivité et la non participation persistent dans la crainte d'une période estivale par tradition moins active.

[[Julienlef]], candidat du [[SUN]] et Ministre  du [[Gouvernement Gwench]] est le premier à rentrer dans la course, il s'agit de sa première candidature. Trois autres candidats vont venir le rejoindre à la dernière minute, il s'agit de [[CFC|Charles Francis Christiaansens II]] (1ere candidature), Chancelier des [[Plaines de l'Avalon]], de [[Metri Goroniski]] (3ème candidatures), Leader du [[Lewsland]], et de [[Carter|Marc "Carter" Heiner]] (leader du [[PNC]] ; 2ème candidature).
