Le club a été fondé en 1985 par Gérald Rich, un ancien homme d'affaire, gérant notamment [[Air Continental]], qui souhaitait lancer le Hockey sur Glace, une de ses passions, dans sa ville natale de [[Mirren]]. Les premières années furent difficiles pour le club, dont les infrastructures douteuses de la "Patinoire Menneberg" ne permettait qu'à l'équipe d'évoluer en ligue régionale, où elle dominait très largement chaque année le championnat. Finalement, la municipalité et le corps administratif du club se mirent d'accord et décidèrent de construire la [[Mirren Wild Arena]], au nord de la ville en 1998, ce qui permit à l'équipe de décoller au niveau national. Aujourd'hui, le Mirren Wild est géré par Chris Rich, fils de Gérald Rich, qui décida de se retirer du club en 2002. | |||
