L'idée d'un championnat remonte a mai 2012, ou quatre clubs de quartiers de l'île Del Canio ont demandé a la fédération la création d'un championnat local. Malheureusement, la fédération étant plongée dans des problèmes de corruption, cette demande n'a pas pu aboutir. La Ciudad Liga est un championnat amateur localisé dans la ville d'Aveiro. Ce championnat amateur a été crée en 1965 et rattaché officiellement à la FSF en 2014. Les clubs existaient avant la création du championnat, et disputaient un championnat informel.

La Ciudad Liga représente le neuvième échelon du football simlandais.

Ce championnat est affilié a la Fédération Simlandaise de Football.
